Shelly Randall
Marketing & Education Director
Shelly is the lead on strategic marketing for The Business Guides and the first person to chat with interested clients who request a complimentary consultation. It’s her job to implement our successful and cost effective marketing plan, and to coordinate education and outreach events for the firm, including our pandemic webinars.
Shelly has been working in financial services since 2014, when she joined the team at Gale Investment Management. Prior to that she ran her own communications consultancy for eight years, providing marketing services to businesses, nonprofits and government agencies on the Olympic Peninsula. Shelly joined The Business Guides in January 2018. When she moved to Port Townsend in 2000, Shelly reported for The Leader newspaper. Covering the waterfront led to freelance writing and photography assignments for WoodenBoat, Sea, and Northwest Travel magazines. A lifelong sailor and maritime culture buff, Shelly went on to work for the Northwest Maritime Center and the Community Boat Project, and served on the board of Sound Experience, which runs the schooner Adventuress. A proponent of financial planning and philanthropy, Shelly has been involved with the Jefferson Community Foundation from its beginnings. She was a founding member of the Fund for Women and Girls, and emceed the Fund's first three Wearable Art Show fundraisers. For three tax seasons, she volunteered one day a week as an AARP Tax Aide at the Port Townsend Community Center. Now she offers personal financial coaching through her own business. Shelly is a third-generation Washingtonian who graduated from Anacortes High School and received her B.A. from Smith College in Massachusetts. She has a son who is in middle school. They have a crazy tortoiseshell cat and enjoy bicycling, kayaking, sailing, walking in the woods, and going to farmers' markets.
