Lauren grew up in the North Bay and Central Valley of California. She discovered her calling for accounting and bookkeeping in high school and entered college as a Business major with plans to become a CPA. However, the housing boom was drastically eating up wild and farm land in the Valley and Lauren made a decision to change career paths. She graduated with a degree in Biology from CSU Stanislaus in 2006 and worked for several years to eradicate invasive plants and restore native riparian habitat along the Stanislaus and San Joaquin Rivers within the California State Parks and US National Wildlife Refuge systems.

Later, Lauren took a job as a Fisheries Observer on board commercial vessels fishing in the Bering Sea. Data collection, calculations and analysis were important parts of biology work, and Lauren soon realized that although she enjoyed the hard and dirty work outdoors, her favorite part was to go back to her desk and crunch the numbers.

After meeting her future husband on a flight to Dutch Harbor, they settled in Port Townsend and Lauren decided to pursue bookkeeping again. After some refresher courses, Lauren worked as an office manager for several local companies and then started a freelance bookkeeping business. When a position became open with The Business Guides she jumped at the opportunity to expand her knowledge her knowledge and work with a group of top notch financial professionals.

Lauren is currently serving as Treasurer on the Board of the Port Townsend Cooperative Playschool. She has volunteered with the YMCA Summer Meals program and UGN Day Of Caring and she is a member of the Quimper Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. She and her husband run a small fishing S-Corporation and are raising two children.
